Hi!! I’m Lauren Reitzel, a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with a BA in English Literature Studies and a minor in writing. In the fall, I’ll begin my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a fiction concentration at The New School in no other than New York City. I grew up in the Chicago Suburbs in a city called Naperville, and have spent the past four years in Michigan growing into the person I am today.
During my time at U-M and Grand Valley State— where I spent my first two years playing dress up as a NCAA lacrosse player and sorority girl— I’ve worked as a writing consultant and peer tutor in my respective university’s writing centers. Over the past three years, I’ve acquired over 1,000 consultations in nearly every genre of writing. From college applications, creative nonfiction, poetry, academic journal pieces, and lab write-ups, I’ve expanded my knowledge of the limitations of genre and form.
